Job Summary:
Ascent Employment is looking for a motivated and hardworking Construction Helper with roofing experience to join our team in Calgary, AB. The ideal candidate will assist skilled tradespeople in various construction tasks, with a primary focus on roofing projects. This role requires hands-on experience in roofing, the ability to work at heights, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Roofing Assistance: Support roofers in installing, repairing, and replacing roofs, including shingling, tarping, and waterproofing
- Material Handling: Load and unload roofing materials, tools, and equipment from trucks and distribute them to appropriate work areas
- Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by setting up ladders, scaffolding, and safety barriers, and ensuring that all necessary tools and materials are ready for use
- Clean-Up: Assist in maintaining a clean and organized worksite, including the removal of debris and unused materials
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection systems
- Basic Construction Tasks: Perform general construction tasks such as measuring, cutting, and fitting materials, under the supervision of experienced tradespeople
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the roofing team to ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in roofing is required
- Basic knowledge of roofing materials, tools, and techniques
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions
- Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Valid drivers license is preferred
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position with a typical workweek of 40 hours
- Work is performed outdoors, often at heights, in varying weather conditions
