Job Description:

Business Development Manager Italy – rPET

Territory: Italy
Remote / Field-Based

Astrantia Talent is recruiting on behalf of an established international business specialising in plastics recycling, recycled materials and circular supply chains.

We are looking for a commercially ambitious Business Development Manager to take ownership of supplier development across the Italian market.

The role combines business development with purchasing and commodity trading. You'll identify businesses generating recyclable plastic materials, understand their material streams and develop commercial relationships that create reliable, recurring supply.

This is a role for someone who enjoys being out in the market: meeting people, inspecting materials, negotiating and turning opportunities into deals.

What you'll do

  • Build and develop a strong recyclable plastics supplier network throughout Italy
  • Map potential suppliers across plastics processing, manufacturing, recycling and waste management
  • Proactively identify and approach new commercial partners
  • Purchase recyclable plastic materials and plastic scrap
  • Develop both new and existing supplier accounts
  • Conduct regular supplier and site visits
  • Inspect materials and assess their quality and commercial viability
  • Negotiate pricing, volumes, logistics considerations and commercial terms
  • Identify opportunities for recurring material supply
  • Collaborate closely with international trading, sales and operational teams
  • Monitor Italian and European recycling markets, commodity prices and material availability
  • Maintain accurate CRM data and actively manage your commercial pipeline
  • Travel extensively throughout your territory

What we're looking for

Previous commercial experience within plastics, polymers, recycling, waste management, raw materials or commodity trading would be highly advantageous.

You should have experience developing new business and be comfortable approaching prospective suppliers, negotiating commercial agreements and managing relationships independently.

You'll need an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing commodity environment.

Fluent Italian and strong English communication skills are required.
