Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and reliable Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial transactions of our business. The ideal candidate has solid experience in bookkeeping, a strong grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. This role is critical to ensuring the financial integrity and smooth operation of our accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record day-to-day financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, billing, and collections.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly.
- Process payroll and maintain payroll records (as applicable).
- Prepare and file sales tax, business tax, or other local/state filings.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain general ledger and ensure accurate journal entries.
- Support the preparation of financial reports for management.
- Organize and maintain digital and physical financial records.
- Communicate with vendors, clients, and internal teams regarding billing or payment issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a small to mid-sized business.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with payroll processing and sales tax filings.
- Familiarity with industry-specific bookkeeping needs (e.g., retail, construction, nonprofit).
- Experience with inventory or job costing systems (if relevant to the business).
