About the Company
We are a well-established chemical trading and distribution company supplying a wide range of industrial chemicals, solvents, inorganic & organic chemicals, surfactants, specialty additives, and water-treatment chemicals across various industries. We are looking for an experienced Senior Chemist to support our technical operations, product evaluation, and customer application development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Evaluation & Technical Support
- Assess and evaluate new chemical products (inorganic, organic, solvents, surfactants, acids, alkalis, industrial additives).
- Provide technical support to customers on product usage, compatibility, and application recommendations.
- Handle queries related to MSDS, product specifications, and chemical performance.
2. Quality Control & Testing
- Conduct quality testing for incoming and outgoing chemical batches.
- Ensure compliance with internal QC standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain testing equipment, instruments, and laboratory documentation.
3. Application Development
- Formulate or test chemical blends, cleaning agents, surfactant systems, or specialty mixtures when required.
- Evaluate alternative raw materials and assist in product improvement.
- Support R&D initiatives for new products or customised chemical solutions.
4. Regulatory & Safety Compliance
- Prepare and update SDS, COA, and technical datasheets.
- Ensure chemical handling, storage, and disposal comply with NEA, SCDF, and MOM regulations.
- Assist in documentation for ISO, HACCP, or internal audits when needed.
5. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support
- Work closely with sales team to provide technical advice and training.
- Support procurement team in evaluating suppliers and product quality.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse and operations teams regarding chemical specifications and stability requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial chemicals, detergents, solvents, water treatment, or specialty chemicals.
- Strong understanding of inorganic chemicals, organic solvents, surfactants, industrial acids & alkalis, and related applications.
- Strong analytical mindset and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills in explaining technical concepts to non-technical teams.
- High attention to detail and strong safety awareness.
