About the job Structural Designer

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The role is responsible for the structural design and delivering of relevant structure deliverables for the assigned ferry/ship design project.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Undertake structural analysis using spreadsheet/hand calculations, beam calculations or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) (as applicable).
  • Undertake structural design and drawings as part of the vessel design to ensure delivery of structural drawing to production/ structural reports.
  • Undertake unit lift plans.
  • Provide technical support to the Structure Design Team and fabrication department.
  • Meet Schedule and budgeted hours for structure activities as per project design schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, or Civil Engineering;
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in a design environment or in a ship design/ shipbuilding industry
  • Experienced with steel/aluminium structural calculations and use of structural software
  • Experienced with Strand FEA or other FEA package,
  • Experience with AutoCAD or Shipcon
