About the role:

The Construction Manager provides support to projects by utilising project management principles to successfully deliver required outputs. The outputs may vary in either being part of a vessel build, vessel support, or part of the support functions, such as project/production management.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning of New Vessel Builds utilising construction management principles
  • Provide Management support and input, consistent with company and Quality Management System objectives to ensure smooth interaction between all Departments and business units, external contractors and Austals customers.
  • Identify, develop, and implement construction standards and processes required to ensure outputs are delivered consistently
  • Facilitate Teamwork Interaction between internal and external parties, including Integration of disciplines across Project activities (e.g., Design to Production, Electrical to Mechanical etc).
  • Direct responsibility for establishing and improving safe and environmentally responsible work practices across the shipyard
  • Develop a culture of safety awareness and conduct
  • Direct management of CM personnel including recruitment, training, development, and performance management
  • Maintain high levels of communication with direct reports, other departments
  • Establish high levels of teamwork and morale Continuous monitoring and management of resource plans and schedules
  • Manage external contractors as required
  • Liaise with the Procurement Manager to ensure all material requirements are met in an efficient manner (time, cost, quality)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering or any Engineering courses
  • Must be a licensed Engineer
  • Minimum of 10 years managerial experience
  • Has a Project Management/Ship construction planning experience
  • Proven knowledge with ship operation and management
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills - written and spoken
  • The role is located in Balamban Cebu, the shipbuilding capital of the Philippines.
