BAND 8A BIOMEDICAL SCIENTIST

Job Description:

• To be responsible for and effectively lead the scientific work of the diagnostic Histology service comprising Routine Histology, Specimen Reception and Cut up. 
• To assume responsibility for organizing and supervising the functions of specimen reception and Cut Up. To work closely with the clinical lead to ensure the effectiveness of the section.
• Under their own direction the postholder will supervise the scientific activities of all Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioners and Medical Laboratory Assistants within these sections.
• To manage on a day-to-day basis a high quality and cost-effective diagnostic and monitoring service for clinicians and patients, maintaining full compliance with statutory requirements including ISO 15189:2012 Medical Laboratory Standards and Human Tissue Authority legislation.
