Job Description:

DIETICIAN BAND 7:

  • Undertake a leadership role alongside the IDT, conducting regular evaluation of provision of the dietetic and enteral team services, and optimizing effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments of patients with complex neuro-disability, using advanced clinical reasoning skills and assessment techniques, interpreting and analyzing clinical and non-clinical facts to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses in order to recommend appropriate nutrition and enteral tube management plans.
  • Hold clinical responsibility for a specific caseload, organizing this effectively and efficiently with regard to service requirements, clinical priorities and use of time.
  • Participate in present and future development of services and pathways and contribute to specialist teaching and education for wider RHN professionals and external counterparts.
  • Have highly specialist knowledge of enteral products and equipment to inform the evaluation and selection of specialist medical devices and ancillaries relating to enteral nutrition across the organization.
  • To act as a senior member of the interdisciplinary team and regularly participate in complex discussions and decisions. To take on the role of BIS keyworker and if required team chair.
  • Work in conjunction with other stakeholders to provide robust clinical governance within dietetics and enteral services in line with the needs of the organization, including regular audit, service improvement and policy development.
  • To be able to communicate with patients at an appropriate level using specialized communication devices.
  • To comply with the British Dietetic Association standards and code of professional conduct and adhere to the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) requirements for professional practice and registration.
  • To undertake additional duties that evolve as the post develops and that are deemed appropriate to your grade and experience by the Clinical Lead Dietitian.
