Job Description:

  • Deliver an efficient, high quality, safe service for patients by carrying out advanced radiotherapy techniques and procedures.
  • Communicate compassionately and effectively with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Actively participate in treatment volumetric verification, according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Use a range of communication and basic counselling skills to provide information and reassurance to cancer patients and their relatives in circumstances where they may be worried, distressed or confused.
  • Identify treatment side effects, offering reassurance and evidence-based advice and administer and supply medication under Patient Group Direction guidelines.
  • Work within and contribute to keeping up to date the department's accredited Quality System.
  • Develop and share knowledge and experience with other practitioners, student radiographers and other trainees. Be reflective in thinking and outlook.
  • Participation in the rota covering the Satellite Unit.
  • Rotate through the different areas of radiotherapy: pre-treatment and treatment.
