Acerca del puesto Board Member - Global Financial Inclusion Non-Profit
Role Purpose:
Join the Board of Directors of a global non-profit institution dedicated to advancing financial inclusion in vulnerable communities. This organization integrates microfinance with social impact strategies to empower families and promote sustainable livelihoods. As a Board Member, you will provide strategic governance, contribute your professional expertise, and champion the mission of expanding access to responsible financial services that uplift lives around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic oversight and fiduciary governance to support organizational growth and impact.
- Participate in quarterly Board meetings (two in-person and two virtual per year), including committee work and immersive site visits in operational regions.
- Serve on at least one Board committee (Audit & Risk, Governance & Nominating, Executive, or Impact).
- Contribute to shaping long-term financial inclusion strategies in underserved regions.
- Represent and advocate for the organizations mission in your professional and personal networks.
- Support fundraising efforts by leveraging relationships and making an annual personal contribution.
- Engage in special initiatives aligned with your expertise and geographic presence.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
Experience:
- Demonstrated leadership in banking, microfinance, fintech, or related financial sectors.
- Deep understanding of Latin American markets.
- Prior Board experience or executive-level governance responsibilities preferred.
- Exposure to regulated financial environments or experience with donor-driven programs is an asset.
Technical & Functional Skills:
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities.
- Deep knowledge of financial inclusion models and global economic development.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, especially with major donors or philanthropic partners.
- Cross-cultural communication and collaboration across global, diverse teams.
Soft Skills:
- High integrity and alignment with purpose-driven leadership.
- Collaborative mindset with an ability to influence at the highest levels.
- Passion for community impact, social equity, and sustainable development.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Effective participation in Board and committee meetings.
- Strategic input in high-impact financial inclusion initiatives.
- Annual personal financial contribution and successful donor engagement.
- Advocacy outcomes and visibility raised for the organization.
Location & Modality:
- Remote with international travel (2 in-person Board meetings annually).
- Candidates from Latin America or with strong LATAM experience are highly encouraged.

Compensation & Commitment:
- This is a voluntary role. Reasonable expenses (travel, lodging) will be covered.
- The term is three years, renewable up to three times (maximum of nine years).
- Estimated annual time commitment: ~1012 days.
