Most "Senior" roles are just coding with a higher paycheque. This is different. We are looking for a heavy-hitting Engineer for a Johannesburg-based team that is currently scaling a high-performance, AI-driven video platform for the financial services sector.

The Draw for You

You will be the architectural backbone of a system that combines complex media rendering with high-compliance data requirements. This is a role for a builder who actually enjoys the responsibility of keeping a production system stable under pressure.

• Architectural Influence: You aren't just following a Jira ticket; you are designing scalable, secure architectures and making key infrastructure decisions.
• Diverse Tech Stack: You'll work across PHP (Laravel) and Node.js on the backend, while managing multiple frontend environments including Angular.
• DevOps Mastery: You will have your hands on the infrastructure—containerising with Docker and optimising AWS to ensure 24/7 reliability.
• Professional Growth: You'll mentor other engineers and set the bar for code quality, essentially acting as a technical lead within the squad.

What You'll Be Doing

You will be the "stabiliser." You'll take ownership of complex codebases, diagnose performance bottlenecks in real-time, and ensure that the platform can handle the load of global brands. Because the client base includes major financial institutions, you'll work in a structured environment where precision and documentation actually matter.

What You Bring

• The Experience: 5 to 8+ years in full stack development with a proven track record of scaling production systems.
• The Tools: Expert-level PHP/Laravel, advanced database engineering (Postgres/MySQL), and proficiency in modern JS frameworks.
• The Mindset: You are commercially aware and solution-oriented. You don't just write code; you solve business problems.
• Accountability: You take pride in "owning" your work. When something breaks, you're the one with the plan to fix it.

• Salary: R65 000 to R85 000 per month.
