About the job Intermediate GCP DevOps Engineer
Intermediate DevOps Engineer | Google Cloud Platform
Shift from managing infrastructure to engineering global platform reliability.
Most DevOps roles are just "SysAdmin" with a new coat of paint. This isn't one of them. At Cloudsmiths, an Intermediate DevOps Engineer doesn't babysit legacy tin; you architect the automated future for international clients. You gain the chance to own the GCP environment, meaning your work directly dictates the speed and security of global software delivery.
Badger & Bird Talent is looking for a GCP specialist who wants to move beyond simple CI/CD and start building resilient, self-healing cloud infrastructure.
Why this is a career-defining move:
- Command a Premium Market Value: By specialising in GCP within a high-growth cloud practice, you are positioning yourself in a high-demand niche. The complexity of these international projects ensures your technical profile remains at the top of the industry.
- Get Paid to Master Your Craft: You aren't expected to stagnate. The company sponsors your GCP certifications and pays a cash bonus upon completion. You are effectively increasing your market worth on their dime.
- Guaranteed Financial Progression: Forget the awkward "inflation raise" chats. Scheduled annual increases on your anniversary and a performance-linked bonus structure ensure your compensation keeps pace with your skills.
- True Remote-First Culture: Work from wherever you are most productive. There is no office requirement, giving you back hours of your day and total control over your working environment.
The Technical Mission
You will be the bridge between code and production, using Google Cloud Platform to build secure, scalable foundations. This isn't just about keeping the lights on; its about "Reliability by Design."
The platform toolkit you'll use:
- GCP Infrastructure: Building and optimising landing zones and core services.
- Infrastructure as Code: Using Terraform to ensure every piece of infrastructure is declarative and reproducible.
- Orchestration: Managing Kubernetes clusters via Helm to ensure applications scale seamlessly.
- CI/CD: Designing pipelines (GitLab, GitHub Actions, or similar) that empower developers to ship with confidence.
- Monitoring & Observability: Setting up the telemetry that ensures the platform remains performant and reliable.
