Our client, a leading technology consulting organisation with operations in South Africa and the UK, Badger & Bird Talent is seeking a hands-on Lead Azure DevOps Engineer to join their world-class team.

About the Opportunity

As a Lead Azure DevOps Engineer, you will be a key hands-on contributor, responsible for scaling and securing the cloud platforms that power digital marketing, analytics, and content delivery for major international clients. 

You will be at the forefront of engineering and securing marketing technology platforms, working with a team that values creativity, data, and technology to create exceptional digital experiences.

What You'll Be Doing:

Architect & Automate: Design and build sophisticated, automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Bicep.

Lead Container Strategy: Support and secure the deployment of containerised workloads using modern tools like AKS, App Services, and Azure Container Registry.

Champion Cloud Security: Implement and manage a suite of cloud-native security controls, including Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, WAF, and Sentinel.

Drive Engineering Excellence: Lead architectural reviews for new Azure environments, drive initiatives to improve pipeline governance, and mentor product squads on platform engineering and zero-trust design patterns.

Integrate Security into Delivery: Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to embed tools like Snyk, SonarQube, and Azure Key Vault into all build and release workflows.

What You'll Bring:

5+ years of experience in DevOps or Platform Engineering roles, with at least 3 years of deep, hands-on experience in Azure.

A proven track record of 3+ years in a leadership or senior mentorship role.

Advanced skills in Terraform and Azure DevOps/GitHub for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.

Strong experience managing container orchestration with AKS and implementing security measures like App Gateway and WAF.

A solid understanding of modern identity and access management using Entra ID, PIM, and ideally, experience with Okta.
