Our client, an ultra-luxury resort on a pristine, remote island in western Indonesia known for its crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and lush tropical landscapes.

They are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Sommelier to elevate the wine and beverage program, create memorable guest experiences, and bring storytelling, service excellence, and creativity to a remote, world-class setting.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Sommelier (WSET Level 2 or 3, Court of Master Sommeliers, or equivalent).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Sommelier in a luxury hospitality, resort-operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of global wines, food pairings, and beverage trends.
  • Outstanding communication and storytelling skills.
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, and natural hospitality instincts.
  • Comfortable living and working in a remote island setting for a minimum of one-year contract.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Experience with inventory systems and beverage cost controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and elevate the overall wine and beverage experience at our exclusive remote island resort.
  • Bring strong knowledge of wines and uphold exceptional service standards.
  • Use storytelling to create memorable and engaging guest experiences.
  • Take a hands-on approach in a role that involves direct interaction with guests.
  • Demonstrate creativity and cultural awareness in every aspect of service.
  • Work independently and confidently in a remote, high-end resort setting.
  • Ensure all established policies, procedures, and best practices are in place and strictly enforced.
  • Support the Director of Food & Beverage in enhancing the restaurant and culinary experience.
  • Continuously assess Food & Beverage amenities, menus, and wine lists to ensure relevance and alignment with wellness and sustainability practices.
  • Collaborate with Guest Services, Reservations, and Front Office to anticipate and fulfil guest needs.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of menus and daily specials across all outlets.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the wine list and provide informed recommendations to guests.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of all resort facilities and services to engage with the in-house guests.
