Position: Offshore Pipelaying and Heavy Lift Expert - Inspection and Acceptance Testing

Location: Offshore (Specific location TBD)

Overview: We are searching for a highly experienced offshore professional to oversee the inspection of our client's pipelaying vessel equipped with a heavy lift crane. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in pipelaying operations, heavy lift crane operations, and acceptance testing procedures. In addition to conducting inspections, the candidate will be responsible for developing an acceptance testing program to verify the functionality and performance of both the pipelaying equipment and heavy lift crane.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough inspections of the client's pipelaying vessel and heavy lift crane to assess their condition, functionality, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  2. Evaluate the performance and operational capabilities of the pipelaying equipment, including tensioners, stingers, welding systems, and associated machinery.
  3. Assess the structural integrity, load capacity, and safety features of the heavy lift crane, considering factors such as lifting capacity, boom length, and stability.
  4. Identify any defects, deficiencies, or areas for improvement in the pipelaying equipment and heavy lift crane and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  5. Develop and implement an acceptance testing program to validate the performance and reliability of the pipelaying system and heavy lift crane under various operating conditions.
  6. Define testing procedures, criteria, and performance metrics for conducting acceptance tests, including load tests, functionality tests, and safety inspections.
  7. Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and offshore personnel, to coordinate inspection activities and testing schedules.
  8. Generate comprehensive reports documenting inspection findings, test results, and recommendations for enhancements or repairs.
  9. Provide technical expertise and support to ensure the successful integration and deployment of the pipelaying system and heavy lift crane for offshore projects.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field. Advanced degree or certifications in offshore engineering, pipelaying, or heavy lift operations are preferred.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience working in offshore construction, specifically in pipelaying operations and heavy lift crane operations.
  3. Proficiency in assessing and operating various pipelaying equipment, including tensioners, welding systems, and associated machinery.
  4. Extensive knowledge of heavy lift crane operations, including crane configuration, load handling, and safety protocols.
  5. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing offshore construction, pipelaying, and heavy lift operations.
  6. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and data.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  8. Willingness to travel to offshore locations and work in challenging environments for extended periods.
