Estimating & Bid Coordinator
The Estimating & Bid Coordinator is a key contributor to my client's success, combining technical estimating expertise with sharp organizational and communication skills. This role is responsible for supporting the full bid lifecycle, from analyzing construction drawings and preparing estimates to organizing bid documents and coordinating subcontractor inputs. Focused on commercial concrete construction, the successful candidate will help secure projects, including multi-family, hospitality, religious, healthcare, and light industrial work, across North and South Carolina.

Key Responsibilities:
Estimating & Take-offs
- Analyze project drawings and specifications to determine scope and concrete requirements (e.g., footings, walls, slabs, post-tension systems).
- Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment using estimating tools (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam).
- Assist with pricing estimates based on historical data, vendor input, and internal cost structure.
- Work within company guidelines for labor and material costs to develop accurate and profitable bids.
- Participate in pre-bid site visits as needed to gain a better understanding of site conditions and scope.
Bid Process Coordination
- Coordinate incoming bid invitations and maintain a structured pipeline of bid opportunities.
- Organize all bid documentation, including subcontractor quotes, supplier pricing, forms, and certifications.
- Ensure all bid deliverables are submitted on time and in accordance with client/GC instructions.
- Track and maintain records of submitted bids, bid results, follow-ups, and client feedback.
Subcontractor & Vendor Interaction
- Identify and prequalify subcontractors and suppliers for current and upcoming bids.
- Solicit quotes, follow up, and evaluate responses for scope coverage and competitiveness.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and general contractors.
Team Collaboration
- Partner closely with senior estimators, project managers, and superintendents to ensure constructability, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Support post-award handoffs to operations, sharing estimating assumptions and documentation.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field; or equivalent industry experience (3+ years).
- Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings.
- Knowledge of concrete construction methods and terminology (e.g., slab-on-grade, foundations, vertical walls, post-tension).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Experience with estimating tools like PlanSwift, AutoCAD, or Bluebeam preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Clear verbal and written communication; professional and team-oriented demeanor.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in a bid coordination or junior estimator role in the commercial construction industry.
- Familiarity with bid management platforms such as Procore, BuildingConnected, or similar.
