We are seeking an experienced and analytical Underwriting Consultant to provide expert underwriting guidance, risk assessment, and strategic support in a fully remote environment. The successful candidate will evaluate complex risks, develop underwriting recommendations, and support underwriting teams in improving risk selection, pricing accuracy, and portfolio performance.

This position is strictly limited to candidates who currently reside in the United States and are legally authorized to work in the U.S. Applications from individuals residing outside the United States will be automatically rejected.


Key Responsibilities:

Evaluate and analyze complex insurance risks across assigned lines of business

Provide expert underwriting recommendations, guidance, and technical consultation to underwriting teams

Review underwriting guidelines, pricing models, and risk selection criteria to ensure consistency and compliance

Support development and implementation of underwriting strategies aligned with organizational objectives

Conduct portfolio analysis to identify trends, profitability, and risk exposure

Collaborate with actuarial, claims, legal, and compliance teams to support underwriting decisions

Assist in underwriting audits, quality reviews, and regulatory compliance initiatives

Develop and deliver underwriting training, documentation, and best practices

Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks


Required Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field

Minimum of 7 years of underwriting experience, including complex or specialty lines

Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and insurance regulations

Proven experience providing underwriting consultation or advisory services

Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Proficiency with underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office Suite

Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment


Preferred Qualifications:

Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, AU, or ARe

Experience in commercial, specialty, or excess & surplus lines underwriting

Familiarity with actuarial modeling and risk analytics

Leadership or mentoring experience


Compensation:

Annual Salary Range: $110,000 – $155,000 USD, commensurate with experience, credentials, and geographic location
