Job Purpose:

The Access Control Field Engineer is responsible for quality control, testing, commissioning, and programming of complex security systems. This role provides technical leadership, client liaison support, and oversight of project documentation to ensure successful project delivery. The Access Control Field Engineer demonstrates advanced system knowledge, budget awareness, and leadership while supporting project managers, service teams, and customers. The pay range for this role is between $44.00 - $48.50/hour commensurate on relevant education, experience, and other job related factors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall project quality control (QC).
  • Create testing and commissioning documentation and sign off on testing sheets.
  • Coordinate and oversee onsite and remote testing activities.
  • Perform client training sessions as needed.
  • Identify and communicate change order opportunities.
  • Serve as customer liaison and primary technical contact when required.
  • Attend site walks to assist in project completion strategy or preconstruction efforts.
  • Provide remote and onsite system programming for advanced access control and video surveillance systems.
  • Support and advise the Service Department when available.
  • Maintain programming, commissioning, and testing documentation.
  • Demonstrate awareness of project budgets and assist with cost controls.
  • Conduct pre-installation and pre-construction job walks.
  • Assist the Project Manager with project closeout activities.
  • Oversee project field documentation, including maintaining redlined drawings, IP addresses, and MAC address records.
  • Provide job site leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and professional project delivery.
  • Participate in jobsite safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Consistently maintain punctuality and reliability.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, contractors, and clients.
  • Accurately complete timesheets and required reporting.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in daily interactions with colleagues and customers.
  • Apply advanced computer knowledge to company applications including Email, MS Office Suite, Vista, Raken, and Labor Chart.
  • Accurately manage and submit documentation related to work performed.
  • Overnight travel as required.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective, professional communication with contractors, clients, coworkers, and leadership.
  • Advanced access control and video surveillance system topology knowledge, including backbone and integration.
  • Advanced system knowledge with design-assist capabilities.
  • Advanced access control and video surveillance system programming proficiency.
  • Advanced computer and network knowledge (IP addressing, subnets, servers, topology).
  • Ability to lead projects in the field, ensuring both technical accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to support junior personnel.

Education, License and Experience:

  • HIRSCH Certification
  • LENEL Certification
  • Milestone Certification
  • 3xLogic Certification
  • OSHA 30 Certification.
  • Thorough understanding of NEC and TIA/EIA standards.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years in progressively senior technical roles.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires sitting, prolonged standing, walking, handling, gripping, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead with force.
  • Requires stooping, crouching, crawling, and working on or under floors.
  • Ability to transport ladders up to 12 feet in height and lift ladders off vehicle roof racks.
  • Willing and able to climb and stand on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, including overhead.
  • Maintain a clear background check to satisfy customer jobsite badging requirements.
  • Submit to vaccinations and screening tests required by customer jobsite protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with company drug and alcohol screening policies.

Travel Requirements:

  • 20-50% travel in Rocky Mountain region, as needed
