About the job [CTT/2026/001] General Technician, Key Infrastructure Unit, Industrial Site Management (Contract Basis) - 1 position
The General Technician supports the Team by carrying out basic maintenance tasks across civil, mechanical, electrical, and general works. The role includes performing minor repairs, assisting during emergencies, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The technician works under the supervision of the technical team to ensure daily maintenance operations are completed efficiently.
This individual shall be stationed full time at PMB unless otherwise directed in writing by the Lead of Key Infrastructure Unit (KIU Lead), Industrial Site Management (ISM).
Key Responsibilities:
A. Multi‑Disciplinary Technical Support
- Provide general support across facilities disciplines including civil, mechanical, and electrical maintenance.
- Assist skilled technicians, engineers, and contractors with repair and maintenance tasks.
- Perform basic repairs such as tightening, minor adjustments, patching works, and simple component replacements.
B. Emergency Assistance
- Respond promptly to operational emergencies such as leaks, power disruptions, equipment failures, or system alarms.
- Support technical teams during emergency repairs, shutdowns, or safety incidents.
- Set up temporary safety measures including barricades, safety cones, and warning signage.
C. Routine Facility Upkeep
- Conduct routine inspections of facility assets and immediately report abnormalities to the Facility Manager.
- Replace consumables, such as light bulbs, filters, and batteries.
- Maintain cleanliness and order of shared technical spaces (pump rooms, generator rooms, storerooms, etc.).
D. Housekeeping and Site Cleanliness
- Ensure proper housekeeping at all work sites before, during, and after maintenance works.
- Clean up debris, waste materials, and ensure responsible waste disposal.
- Support waste segregation and compliance with site cleanliness standards.
E. Tools, Equipment, and Materials Handling
- Safely handle, transport, and store tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance works.
- Maintain cleanliness and good working condition of tools and portable equipment.
- Report faulty or damaged tools to the Facility Manager.
F. Contractor & Vendor Support
- Escort contractors and vendors to designated work areas and assist with access arrangements.
- Provide general support to contractors performing site works.
- Observe and report any deviations in contractor safety, quality of work, or scope.
G. Safety and HSSE Compliance
- Follow all safety procedures and adhere to site-specific HSSE policies.
- Wear appropriate PPE and prioritize safety for self, team members, and contractors.
- Report unsafe practices, unsafe conditions, and near misses immediately.
H. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain basic records of tasks and provide updates or reports to the Facility Manager.
- Assist in completing inspection checklists, maintenance logs, and incident reports.
I. Traffic Control Assistance
- Provide ground support for traffic management during incidents or scheduled activities.
- Set up traffic management devices such as cones, barriers, and signage.
- Assist in maintenance of traffic equipment (e.g., marine navigation lighting, portable weighing devices, median barriers).
- Respond to traffic-related incidents and support the technical team in managing vehicle flow.
J. Other Duties
- Perform other general maintenance or operational support tasks as assigned by the Facility Manager, Assistant Facility Managers, or KIU Lead.
- Participate in scheduled emergency drills, technical trainings, and readiness exercises.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum National Diploma qualification or equivalent.
- Technical or vocational certification in mechanical, electrical, civil, or building maintenance is an added advantage.
- At least 5 years experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or general technical support, or relevant.
- Experience assisting and coordinating with contractors or technicians is preferred.
- Experience in emergency response support is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and equipment safety.
- Ability to complete checklists, inspection forms, and simple reports.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks (lifting, carrying, climbing).
- Able to work indoors, outdoors, confined spaces, or elevated locations.
- Willing to respond to emergencies outside normal duties.
- Good teamwork, communication, and willingness to follow instructions.
- Responsible, reliable, and committed to maintaining high work standards.
- Motivated to learn and adaptable to different maintenance tasks.
NOTE: This is a contract position with the opportunity for permanent conversion based on business requirements.
