Private Chef Farm-to-Table Focus

Salary Range: $150,000 $175,000
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced, confidential Private Chef to deliver creative, nutritious farm-to-table cuisine for a private Bay Area family. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in Mediterranean and international cuisines, experience in private households, exceptional professionalism, and a passion for engaging children in the culinary process while prioritizing discretion and privacy in all interactions.
Core Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) using fresh, organic, locally-sourced ingredients.
- Collaborate with garden and household staff for true garden-to-table menu planning and ingredient sourcing.
- Customize menus for varying palates, dietary needs, and texture sensitivities across family members.
- Execute meal prep for private family dinners and regular events (up to 20 guests).
- Create international dishes (Mediterranean, Persian, Salvadoran, Asian, African, etc.), with a focus on wholesome, family-style cuisine.
- Foster a positive, educational kitchen environment; actively involve children in age-appropriate tasks and culinary learning.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries regarding all household matters.
- Ensure the kitchen remains organized, with a clean workspace for effective post-service housekeeping.
- Shop for ingredients at farmers markets and specialty suppliers, avoiding processed or canned foods.
- Support sustainable practices, including zero food waste policies and creative use of estate-grown produce.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years experience as a Private Chef or in a high-end, farm-to-table culinary environment.
- Proven track record of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in private settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in Mediterranean and global cuisines, with strong whole foods and meal planning skills.
- Previous experience working with children in family households; must enjoy creating inclusive, interactive culinary experiences.
- Deep knowledge of organic ingredient sourcing, nutrition, and menu development.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to maintain a clean, efficient kitchen.
- Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) preferred.
- Culinary arts degree or equivalent experience desirable.
