Job Summary:

The Production Head is responsible for the overall management and oversight of all production activities within the pharmaceutical manufacturing unit. This role ensures the efficient and compliant execution of production processes, adherence to GMP, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines, and the optimization of resources. The Production Head leads the production team, ensuring quality, safety, and productivity goals are met.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment and Maintenance Management:

  • Ensure the preventive maintenance of all critical equipment in collaboration with the engineering team.
  • Arrange and manage necessary equipment or machinery based on production needs.
  • Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of utilities within the production area.

2. Production Planning and Execution:

  • Plan and oversee production activities to meet market demands, ensuring effective manpower management.
  • Monitor and control raw material and packing material inventory to ensure uninterrupted production.
  • Maintain a hygienic environment and ensure the proper upkeep of the production facility.

3. Quality Control and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including pollution control, and maintain accurate records.
  • Review and manage online rejection notes, implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) as required.
  • Oversee the proper storage, labeling, and segregation of raw and packing materials.

4. Process Monitoring and Documentation:

  • Monitor temperature, humidity, and other environmental factors in storage and processing areas according to SOPs.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of operations, including machine and equipment cleaning records.
  • Maintain thorough records of manufacturing and packing activities, including Batch Production Records (BPR) and Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR).

5. Calibration and Inspection:

  • Ensure regular calibration and verification of laboratory instruments such as balances, thermometers, and pressure gauges.
  • Monitor packing machine parts issuance, retrieval, and inspection records.

6. Product Management and Review:

  • Ensure the proper handling and storage of products in quarantine with accurate documentation.
  • Oversee the preparation of material return notes and the transfer of finished goods to the finished goods store.
  • Review BMR/BPR of manufactured goods and coordinate with IPQA for final review and release.

7. SOP Management:

  • Review, update, and develop new SOPs as necessary to ensure continuous improvement in production processes.

8. Training and Development:

  • Provide training to workers, officers, and operators in tablet manufacturing and packing areas.
  • Maintain training records and ensure that all team members are updated on current SOPs and practices.

9. Leadership and Coordination:

  • Lead investigations into product or machinery-related issues and report findings to the department head.
  • Generate and manage maintenance memos for equipment breakdowns and ensure timely resolution.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth production operations.

10. Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  • Manage the preparation of material return notes and oversee the final packing of finished goods.
  • Act as the primary contact in the absence of senior management for day-to-day operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 of experience in pharmaceutical production management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GMP, SOP, BMR/BPR processes, and compliance regulations.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
