Position: Lead Mechanical Engineer

Your Opportunity

B&H is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience designing building mechanical and plumbing systems. We are looking for someone with strong technical and engineering design skills to work as a team member on multidiscipline projects for a wide range of building types including educational, healthcare, governmental, and industrial facilities. Candidates must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and must be a strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment to be successful in this role.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establishes design criteria, incorporating client requirements, scope basis and design basis meeting applicable state, local and federal standards and codes. Ensuring requirements are established and communicated to other disciplines and the project team.
  • Designs mechanical systems including but not limited to: heating, ventilating, air-conditioning, hydronics, steam, plumbing, gas, and compressed-air utilities.
  • Possesses working knowledge of applicable codes and standards; advises other design-team members on the implications of those criteria as needed.
  • Possesses general working knowledge of different mechanical systems; stays up to date on industry advancements including best-practices for applicability.
  • Coordination and oversight of floor plans, site plans, and other drawings for complex design preparations.
  • Develops construction documentation and BIM models utilizing Revit MEP or similar CAD package.
  • Creates mechanical specifications based on project requirements.
  • Accurately and consistently executes QA/QC process.
  • Supervises the installation of the designed systems and equipment during construction. Actively participates in construction administration activities and represents the company in client meetings through construction completion.
  • Prepares cost estimates, specifications, and design analyses.
  • Manages the mechanical engineering of small projects.
  • Oversees the production of design documents by graduate engineers.
  • Balances workload and varying requirements of multiple projects.
  • Attends client meetings and represents the mechanical interests of the firm.
  • Communicates with departmental representatives and outside vendors.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and executes continuous improvements to policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Required Computer Skills: Revit (Revit experience is a must), HVAC load calculation software (Carrier HAP), Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of building and energy codes.
  • Candidate must have experience working on multiple projects at one time and must be able to demonstrate efficient and effective use of budgeted hours.
  • Position requires local travel and visits to client/construction sites.
  • Demonstrate stable employment history.

Your Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred, if candidate does not possess a PE, candidate must be on a path to licensure. Must have an active Engineer-In-Training Certification at a minimum.
  • Must have at least five (5) years of experience designing HVAC systems for commercial and/or industrial buildings.
  • At least two (2) years of recent experience working in Revit MEP and/or AutoCAD MEP.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and willingness to learn new software specific to B&H processes preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000 - $115,000.00 per year
