Head of Business / System Analysis
We are seeking a seasoned Head of Business / System Analysis to lead and scale our BA/SA function within the Engineering organization. This is a senior leadership role with ownership of a team of ~10 Business and System Analysts embedded across multiple product domains.
You will serve as the critical bridge between business stakeholders, product, and engineering—ensuring complex business needs are translated into clear, actionable, and well-structured system specifications. You will also elevate the overall quality, consistency, and maturity of analysis practices across the organization
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and scale a team of ~10 Business/System Analysts across multiple product squads
Define team structure, roles, and clear career progression paths
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and development planning
Hire, onboard, and retain top BA/SA talent aligned with company growth
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and knowledge-sharing culture
Analysis Practice & Standards
Define and enforce standards, templates, and best practices across analysis and documentation (BRDs, PRDs, functional specs, API contracts, BPMN, data models)
Drive consistency and quality across all analytical outputs—from user stories to solution designs
Establish a strong documentation culture across a 50+ microservices landscape
Champion modern tools and frameworks (e.g., Figma, BPMN, OpenAPI/Swagger, ClickUp, Confluence-style wikis)
Stakeholder Management
Act as a trusted partner to senior and C-level stakeholders on system capabilities and requirements clarity
Facilitate discovery sessions, workshops, and design reviews across business, product, and engineering
Translate ambiguous business goals into structured, testable, and implementable specifications
Cross-Functional Delivery
Oversee BA/SA contributions across the full product lifecycle—from discovery to post-release evaluation
Partner closely with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, and QA to ensure requirement clarity and minimize rework
Review and approve requirements for complex or high-impact initiatives
Identify risks, gaps, and ambiguities early in the delivery pipeline
Process Improvement & Governance
Continuously improve how requirements are gathered, documented, and validated
Establish quality gates and review checkpoints within delivery workflows
Lead retrospectives within the BA team to improve efficiency and impact
Track team performance metrics and provide reporting to engineering leadership
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience
5+ years in Business Analysis, System Analysis, or a related discipline
3+ years in a leadership role managing analysts or cross-functional teams
Experience in a product-driven, high-scale tech environment (fintech, banking, or financial services preferred)
Proven track record managing multiple concurrent initiatives across complex domains
Technical Capability
Comfortable working with API specifications (REST, OpenAPI/Swagger)
Proficient in BPMN for process modeling
Strong understanding of microservices and distributed systems
Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and analysis
Ability to engage in technical discussions (data models, integrations, event-driven systems)
Familiarity with feature flags, rollout strategies, and fallback design
Technology Environment
You will operate within a modern fintech stack, including:
Backend: Python (Django, FastAPI, Flask), REST APIs, OpenAPI
Data: PostgreSQL, SQL, data modeling
Frontend/Mobile: React/Angular, Android (Kotlin), iOS
Architecture: Microservices (~50 services), event-driven systems
Infrastructure: AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD
Banking & Payments: Mifos, QRPH, PESONet, e-wallet integrations
Tools: BPMN, ClickUp, Figma, GitLab, documentation platforms
