Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Cook who specializes in Indian cuisine to help maintain our reputation for excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and flavors, along with a commitment to quality and consistency.

Singh Curry House Narangba, Queensland

Employment Type 

Full-time (38 Hours a week)

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of authentic Indian dishes according to restaurant recipes and standards
  • Ensure all food is prepared with proper portion control and presented attractively
  • Maintain knowledge of all menu items, daily specials, and promotions
  • Monitor food quality and freshness throughout preparation and service
  • Follow all food safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized kitchen
  • Properly store all food items according to health department regulations
  • Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
  • Work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining food quality
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Receive and store deliveries appropriately
  • Maintain and clean cooking equipment, work areas, and utensils

Skills and Experience Required

  • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
  • Minimum 1 year experience cooking Indian cuisine in a restaurant setting
  • Strong knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and regional cuisines
  • Food handling certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Ability to follow recipes precisely
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Understanding of dietary restrictions and ability to modify dishes accordingly
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers and the team
