Chutney Mary's Restaurant, proudly serving the Carrara community is seeking a qualified and passionate Indian Cuisine Chef to join our growing team.

We are committed to delivering high-quality and authentic Indian dining experiences to our customers, and are looking for a talented and passionate Chef with expertise in Indian cuisine to join our team.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Chef specializing in Indian cuisine, you will be responsible for creating and executing menus that showcase the rich and diverse flavors of Indian food. You will work closely with our team to develop new and innovative dishes, while also maintaining the quality and consistency of our existing menu offerings.

SALARY PACKAGE

$74,000 - $77,000 Plus Superannuation per annum for full time work(38 Hours a week)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan and prepare menus that highlight the unique flavors and ingredients of Indian cuisine

- Participate in menu development and revamping. This includes price adjustments, dish updates, and planning of seasonal offerings.

- Create and test new recipes, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients when possible.

- Analyze ingredient costs, monitoring food waste, and managing labor expenses to ensure profitable menu pricing and optimal kitchen financial performance.

- Oversee the preparation and cooking of all Indian dishes, ensuring they are cooked to perfection and presented beautifully.

- Recruit, Train and mentor other kitchen staff and trainees  and manage team performance and discipline 

- Supervise kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques and procedures for Indian dishes

- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to all food safety and sanitation standards

- Monitor food inventory and order supplies as needed to ensure a well-stocked kitchen

- Collaborate with other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation

- Stay up-to-date with food trends and industry developments to continuously improve and innovate our menu offerings

- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations

- Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times, providing excellent customer service to our guests

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Chef specializing in Indian cuisine

- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery/Kitchen Management and a Diploma in Hospitality is essential.

- Strong knowledge of Indian spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques

- Ability to create and execute menus that are both traditional and innovative

- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and supervise kitchen staff

- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Passion for food and a dedication to delivering high-quality and authentic dining experiences

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
