Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Kitting Group Leader to oversee daily shop floor logistics and kitting operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring smooth material flow, supporting production line readiness, and leading a unionized hourly team. You will act as the key coordinator between production, warehouse, and supply chain teams to prevent disruptions and maintain production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead, schedule, and support a team of material handlers and kitting staff in a unionized environment
  • Provide coaching, training, and performance management for hourly team members
  • Approve attendance, vacation requests, and ensure compliance with training requirements
  • Foster a positive, safety-focused, and performance-driven team culture

Shop Floor & Production Coordination

  • Oversee daily kitting, distribution, inventory control, and material fulfillment activities
  • Ensure production lines are continuously supplied with required materials
  • Coordinate material flow between the warehouse, production, and logistics teams
  • Support smooth routing of finished goods and minimize production downtime

Inventory & Materials Management

  • Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular audits on the shop floor materials
  • Coordinate replenishment with warehouse teams to maintain optimal stock levels
  • Verify materials against production schedules and documentation
  • Track discrepancies, damaged goods, and coordinate returns/replacements

Union & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work effectively within union agreements and maintain strong working relationships with union representatives
  • Resolve workplace issues in alignment with labor agreements and company policy

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report on KPIs such as delivery performance, inventory accuracy, and staffing coverage
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements in kitting and material handling workflows
  • Support safety, compliance, and operational excellence initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 2–3+ years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing operations
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role managing hourly employees
  • Direct experience working in a unionized environment
  • Hands-on experience with shop floor coordination, material flow, kitting, or inventory control
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or certification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • Background in supply chain, warehousing, or manufacturing operations

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/production floor setting
  • Exposure to noise, varying temperatures, and physical activity
  • Requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials
