Job Overview

We are hiring a Press Tech Group Leader to support and improve high-volume metal stamping operations. This role is responsible for leading a production team, improving stamping efficiency, reducing downtime, and driving Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including SMED.

The ideal candidate brings strong tool & die knowledge, hands-on stamping experience, and proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Stamping Operations & Technical Support

  • Optimize stamping processes to meet quality, safety, and production targets
  • Troubleshoot tooling and die issues using strong tool & die knowledge
  • Partner with engineering and tool room teams to improve die performance

Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead process improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction and efficiency
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing tools with emphasis on SMED (die changeover reduction)
  • Track production metrics and drive data-based improvements

Preventative Maintenance

  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for stamping equipment
  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
  • Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and followed

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop production team members in a servant leadership style
  • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one performance coaching
  • Support employee relations and collaborate with union representatives when needed

Operational Excellence & Collaboration

  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Work cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Tool Room teams
  • Lead problem-solving efforts and support operational decision-making
  • Establish goals aligned with plant performance metrics and KPIs

Project Management

  • Lead manufacturing improvement projects from planning through execution
  • Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet operational goals

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in metal stamping or manufacturing operations
  • Strong knowledge of tool and die principles
  • Proven experience implementing SMED in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (coaching, mentoring, supervising teams)
  • Experience in high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing preferred
