About the job Press Operations Supervisor – Metal Stamping
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM–3:00 PM (1st Shift)
Must be flexible to support all shifts as needed, including occasional Friday overtime.
Job Overview
We are hiring a Press Tech Group Leader to support and improve high-volume metal stamping operations. This role is responsible for leading a production team, improving stamping efficiency, reducing downtime, and driving Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including SMED.
The ideal candidate brings strong tool & die knowledge, hands-on stamping experience, and proven leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Stamping Operations & Technical Support
- Optimize stamping processes to meet quality, safety, and production targets
- Troubleshoot tooling and die issues using strong tool & die knowledge
- Partner with engineering and tool room teams to improve die performance
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction and efficiency
- Implement Lean Manufacturing tools with emphasis on SMED (die changeover reduction)
- Track production metrics and drive data-based improvements
Preventative Maintenance
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for stamping equipment
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Ensure maintenance activities are properly documented and followed
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop production team members in a servant leadership style
- Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one performance coaching
- Support employee relations and collaborate with union representatives when needed
Operational Excellence & Collaboration
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards
- Work cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Tool Room teams
- Lead problem-solving efforts and support operational decision-making
- Establish goals aligned with plant performance metrics and KPIs
Project Management
- Lead manufacturing improvement projects from planning through execution
- Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables to meet operational goals
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in metal stamping or manufacturing operations
- Strong knowledge of tool and die principles
- Proven experience implementing SMED in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated leadership experience (coaching, mentoring, supervising teams)
- Experience in high-volume or fast-paced manufacturing preferred
