Shift: 2nd Shift (Mon–Thu, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM) + occasional overtime/weekends as needed
Compensation: Up to $85,000 base salary + 5% performance bonus + $500/month shift differential ($6,000/year)
Job Overview
The Kitting Group Leader is responsible for leading daily shop floor kitting and material flow operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures production lines are consistently supplied with the right materials while coordinating closely with the warehouse, production, and supply chain teams.
You will directly supervise a unionized team, acting as the primary on-floor leader for scheduling, performance management, safety compliance, and operational coordination. Strong hands-on leadership and experience in union environments are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Directly supervise hourly union employees in kitting and material handling operations
- Manage scheduling, attendance, vacation approvals, and shift coverage
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management to team members
- Resolve employee relations issues in alignment with union agreements
Shop Floor & Production Support
- Oversee daily kitting, distribution, and material flow to production lines
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid production disruptions
- Coordinate finished goods movement between production, warehouse, and shipping areas
Inventory & Materials Management
- Monitor shop floor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment with warehouse teams
- Conduct inventory checks and audits aligned with production schedules
- Ensure proper handling, tracking, and storage of materials and finished goods
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as liaison between production, warehouse, purchasing, and union representatives
- Coordinate resolution of material shortages, defects, delays, and discrepancies
- Communicate operational priorities and resolve bottlenecks in real time
Compliance, Safety & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, union agreements, and company policies
- Track and report key metrics, including inventory accuracy, delivery performance, and staffing
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, labor tracking, and operational reporting
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve kitting and material flow processes
- Implement efficiency improvements to reduce waste and improve production support
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- 1–3 years of experience in logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing operations
- Proven supervisory experience managing hourly employees
- Experience working in a unionized environment (required)
- Hands-on experience in shop floor operations (kitting, material handling, inventory control)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or certification in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
- Background in manufacturing operations or supply chain management
