Managing, configuring, and supporting enterprise telephony systems including Microsoft Teams, Avaya platforms, and Ribbon Gateways
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Unified Communications Administrator to oversee the administration and maintenance of our telephony infrastructure. This role covers Microsoft Teams Phone System, Avaya telephony platforms, and Ribbon Gateways to ensure seamless voice communication, call routing, and integration with business applications.
You will troubleshoot voice-related issues, implement system upgrades, and collaborate with network and IT teams to maintain high availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Telephony Systems Administration
- Configure, deploy, and maintain telephony solutions across Microsoft Teams Phone System, Avaya PBX, and Ribbon Gateway platforms
- Manage call routing, voice policies, dial plans, and unified messaging services
- Administer user accounts, licenses, and permissions within telephony environments
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor system health, call quality, and network performance impacting voice services
- Diagnose and resolve telephony issues including voice quality, connectivity, and hardware/software faults
- Collaborate with network and security teams to address latency, QoS, and firewall settings
System Upgrades & Integration
- Plan and execute upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in telephony platforms
- Integrate telephony systems with other business applications (CRM, contact center, collaboration tools)
- Support migration and interoperability projects involving cloud and on-premises telephony
Documentation & Training
- Maintain detailed documentation of telephony infrastructure, configurations, and procedures
- Provide training and support to end-users and helpdesk teams on telephony features and best practices
- Stay current with telephony technology trends and vendor updates
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years experience administering enterprise telephony systems, specifically Microsoft Teams Phone System, Avaya, and Ribbon Gateways
- Strong knowledge of VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP) and telephony network fundamentals
- Experience with call routing, dial plans, and voice policy configuration
- Familiarity with network QoS, firewall rules, and telephony security best practices
- Ability to troubleshoot voice quality and connectivity issues
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator, Avaya Certified Specialist, or equivalent
- Experience with Session Border Controllers (SBCs) and gateway configuration
- Knowledge of cloud telephony and UCaaS platforms
- Understanding of integration with collaboration and contact center solutions
- Familiarity with telephony monitoring and reporting tools
