Senior DeltaV Engineer – Life Sciences Automation | Raleigh, NC

Location: Raleigh, NC | Salary: $150K–$170K | Onsite with up to 25% travel

About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior DeltaV Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and project management of large-scale automation projects in the Life Sciences industry. This role focuses on delivering cGMP-compliant Emerson DeltaV control systems, optimizing biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing processes, and managing projects from concept through commissioning and validation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead full project lifecycle for DeltaV automation projects, including design, commissioning, and validation
  • Develop scalable DeltaV system architectures and class-based configurations
  • Design batch sequencing, phase logic, recipes, and HMI graphics using DeltaV Live/Operate aligned with ISA-101 standards
  • Implement industrial networking and system integration (Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Profibus, OPC UA, Foundation Fieldbus)
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, GAMP5, 21 CFR Part 11
  • Mentor and provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams
  • Travel up to 25% for on-site support, commissioning, and client engagement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Control Systems, or Chemical Engineering (or related field)
  • 8–15 years of hands-on automation & control system engineering experience in Life Sciences
  • Expert in Emerson DeltaV systems (design, implementation, configuration)
  • Proficient with DeltaV Live & DeltaV Operate and ISA-101 HMI design
  • Strong experience with ISA-88 batch processing, historian integration, and advanced control strategies
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects under cGMP/regulatory compliance
  • Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Electrical design expertise (MCCs, VFDs, control panels)
  • Experience with virtualization, server architecture, and cybersecurity in DeltaV deployments
  • Familiarity with other DCS/SCADA systems (Rockwell, Siemens PCS7, Inductive Automation Ignition)
