Overview

An established U.S. defense and government contractor is seeking a Compliance Specialist to support enterprise regulatory compliance across federal programs. This role focuses on export controls, import compliance, and federal contracting regulations within a highly regulated Aerospace & Defense environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support ITAR / EAR export compliance, including classification, licensing, documentation, and recordkeeping
  • Manage ATF import/export compliance, including Forms 6 & 6A, FFL/FEL coordination, and AECA registration
  • Ensure adherence to FAR / DFARS requirements across active government contracts
  • Partner cross-functionally with Legal, Contracts, IT, Security, HR, and Finance
  • Support DCMA / DCAA audits, internal compliance reviews, and corrective action plans
  • Assist in developing and delivering compliance training and reporting
  • Maintain accurate compliance documentation and support regulatory inquiries

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Finance, Compliance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in Aerospace & Defense or Government Contracting
  • Hands-on experience with ITAR and EAR export compliance (licensing, classification, and controls)
  • Direct experience with ATF import compliance (Forms 6/6A, FFL/FEL, AECA registration)
  • Working knowledge of FAR / DFARS regulations
  • Experience supporting compliance in a matrixed, multi-stakeholder environment (contracts, legal, security, operations)
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
  • Valid U.S. passport and willingness to travel occasionally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as CCEP, CIA, or CISSP
  • Experience supporting NIST 800-171 / CMMC compliance environments
  • Experience with large defense primes, subcontractors, or federal system integrators
  • Exposure to DCMA/DCAA audit processes and corrective action systems
