Maintenance Manager – Food Manufacturing | Cherokee, IA | Onsite
Salary: $120K–$160K DOE + discretionary bonus
Shift: 1st Shift (7 AM–5 PM, M–F) with occasional 2nd/3rd shift or weekend support
Location: Cherokee, Iowa – Onsite
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead and optimize plant maintenance operations in a high-volume food manufacturing facility. You will oversee the maintenance of production equipment, building systems, refrigeration, and plant grounds, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with OSHA and other regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage plant maintenance teams and coordinate maintenance of bread, batter, fryer, refrigeration, and protein processing systems.
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans to maximize equipment uptime.
- Oversee plant layout changes, capital and expense budget projects, and vendor/contractor work.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including OSHA, and maintain a proactive safety culture.
- Provide tools, training, and resources for maintenance staff to succeed.
- Troubleshoot and solve mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and PLC system issues efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience in electrical/mechanical fields.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of maintenance management in food manufacturing (bread, batter, fryer).
- Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude; CAD and PLC knowledge; refrigeration/ammonia experience.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple projects, and communicate with senior management.
- Other: OSHA 30-hour certification or equivalent; ability to work in environments from -40°F to 110°F; use of PPE, including safety glasses and hearing protection.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally, walk and stand as needed, and work in noisy or temperature-extreme environments.
