Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Field Service Technician with strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting experience. In this role, you will service, repair, install, and maintain critical aircraft ground support equipment both in our McHenry, IL shop and at customer sites across North America.

You will also provide remote technical support via phone, email, and CRM-based service tickets, working closely with customers and engineering teams in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of aviation ground support equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control system issues
  • Use schematics, diagnostic tools, and voltage meters for system analysis
  • Provide on-site technical support at airports and customer facilities
  • Document service activities, findings, and corrective actions in detail
  • Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, and CRM ticketing systems
  • Collaborate with internal engineering and technical support teams (including international teams)
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards and quality requirements
  • Travel regularly for field assignments across North America (and occasionally internationally)

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a technician, field service, or industrial maintenance role
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience using voltage meters and diagnostic tools
  • Valid driver's license
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to work in airport/field environments (outdoor, loud, and variable weather conditions)
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Experience

  • Aviation ground support equipment experience (strong advantage)
  • Exposure to PLC systems or industrial controls
  • Background in airport, heavy equipment, or fleet maintenance environments

Work Environment

This role combines shop-based work in McHenry, IL with frequent travel to airports and customer sites across North America. Most travel allows return home on weekends and holidays, with occasional exceptions based on project needs.

Travel: 40–50% (occasional international travel to Denmark/Sweden)
Schedule: Full-time, 8-hour shifts (0700–1530 or 0800–1630)
