2nd Shift Shop Supervisor – Rotating Equipment / Turbomachinery
Shift: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Overtime/Weekends as needed)
About the Role
Rotating Machinery Services (RMS) is seeking a hands-on Shop Supervisor
to lead 2nd shift operations supporting the repair and overhaul of turbomachinery, including compressors and turbines. This role ensures all work meets OEM specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise 2nd shift technicians; provide clear shift handover notes
- Perform and oversee disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly of rotating equipment (compressors, turbines, valves)
- Measure and document tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Support hydro/gas leak testing and basic dynamic balancing
- Coordinate material flow, shipping/receiving, and equipment offloading (overhead crane/forklift)
- Enforce safety, quality, and housekeeping standards
- Partner with Quality/Production to resolve non-conformances efficiently
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years turbomachinery or rotating equipment repair experience (centrifugal compressors, steam/power turbines, screw/axial compressors)
- Prior shop supervisor or team lead experience in an industrial or machine shop environment
- Strong proficiency with precision measuring tools
- Experience with equipment teardown, inspection, and rebuild to OEM specs
- Working knowledge of balancing, machine tools, and leak testing
- Experience with overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling
- Ability to work 2nd shift and overtime as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, or OEM repair environments
- Technical training in a mechanical field
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- On-site machine shop; exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 30 lbs
- Use of hand tools, lifting devices, and shop equipment
Basic Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Authorized to work in the United States
- English proficiency (read/write/speak)
