Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Project Manager (HVAC & Plumbing) – PE

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Project Manager to lead HVAC and plumbing design for complex facilities projects across education, public works, water/wastewater, transportation, government, and aviation sectors. This role combines technical leadership, project management, and team oversight within a collaborative consulting engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering design for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, field investigations, and code reviews
  • Oversee production and QA/QC of construction drawings and specifications
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and quality plans
  • Serve as Project Manager on mechanically driven facilities projects
  • Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and permitting authorities
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support client presentations, proposals, and business development efforts
  • Assist during construction with RFIs, submittals, and field issue resolution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering (ABET-accredited)
  • 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience (HVAC & plumbing design)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT withthe  ability to obtain PE within 6–12 months
  • Strong experience with HVAC systems, ductwork, piping, hydronic systems, and equipment selection
  • Proficient in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and load modeling software (IESVE, Carrier HAP)
  • Thorough knowledge of building, energy, mechanical, and plumbing codes
  • Proven project management and team leadership experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to pass the company motor vehicle screening

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Commissioning certifications (CxA, BCxP)
  • CAPM or PMP certification
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3 delivery methods
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and industrial mechanical systems
  • Public sector project experience (local, state, or federal clients)
