About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Land Surveyor / Manager to lead our dynamic surveying team. In this critical role, you will plan, organize, and oversee the work of surveyors and technicians to ensure precise measurement and mapping of land, utility locations, subsurface utilities (SUE), and construction sites. You will drive project success by managing field crews, ensuring quality control, and maintaining strong client relationships. This is a leadership role for a hands-on professional passionate about accuracy, safety, and team development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage multiple field survey crews, providing clear direction and ongoing performance management
  • Assemble and analyze field data, perform survey calculations, and prepare accurate legal descriptions and survey plans
  • Ensure quality assurance and quality control across all survey projects

  • Manage project budgets, billing, and schedules to meet deadlines and client expectations
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and represent the company at meetings and conferences
  • Support business development efforts within the surveying discipline and the local market
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all relevant surveying regulations
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members

What You Bring

  • Professional Registered Land Surveyor (PLS) license required

  • Minimum 10 years of professional surveying experience

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local surveying laws and regulations
  • Proficient in survey plan preparation using Inroads/Microstation and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to lead teams, provide feedback, and promote a positive work culture

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and utility locating
  • Familiarity with aerial mapping, LiDAR scanning, and sUAS (drones) technology
  • Prior business development and client management experience

Working Conditions

  • The majority of work is conducted in a professional office environment (95%)
  • Occasional fieldwork required in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, dry)
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs occasionally during fieldwork
