Structural Truss Designer - Mitek / CAD

About the Role

We are seeking a Truss Designer to join our growing team! In this role, you'll design floor and roof truss systems for residential, commercial, and agricultural buildings using MiTek software. This is a full-time, office-based position where precision, communication, and problem-solving are key.

As part of our design department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity, cost-efficiency, and constructability of all truss projects while working closely with internal teams and external clients.

What You'll Do

• Design truss layouts based on blueprints and job specifications

• Use MiTek software to ensure accurate and efficient truss designs

• Optimize material usage and support production efficiency

• Communicate with sales, production, and customers to resolve design or engineering issues

• Visit job sites when necessary to address on-site challenges

• Maintain organized records and documentation for each project

• Assist in training junior designers as needed

• Follow up on quotes and engage with clients to support sales and service

Qualifications

Required:

• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints

• Strong math and geometry skills

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

• Dependable with a reliable mode of transportation

• Knowledge of TPI and local building codes

Preferred:

• 2+ years of truss design experience using MiTek or similar software

• CAD or drafting background

• Construction or truss shop experience

• 2-year technical degree or relevant experience
