Overview
The company is hiring a Field Installation Manager to support high-volume commercial door and gate service operations across the Greater Sacramento area. This is a hands-on field leadership role focused on troubleshooting, estimating, scheduling, and coordinating service/installation crews.
This newly created position is designed to improve field efficiency and support leadership by managing daily service workflow, customer needs, and multiple active jobs. The ideal candidate has strong commercial door and gate service/repair experience (not residential and not new-install only experience).
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations across 10–20 active service jobs
- Diagnose and troubleshoot commercial door and gate system issues in the field and remotely
- Prepare service estimates, define the scope of work, and support quoting activities
- Coordinate scheduling of 1–2 person service and installation crews
- Source parts, materials, and equipment required for repairs and installations
- Ensure all work is completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards
- Communicate with customers, technicians, vendors, and internal teams
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations (ADA, fire-rated doors, and applicable codes)
- Support a structured 6-month onboarding/training period with leadership
Required Experience
- ~5 years of hands-on commercial door and gate service/repair experience (commercial only; residential experience not applicable)
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic ability in field and remote support situations
- Experience with multiple commercial door and gate systems, such as:
- Automatic doors (SIG or equivalent)
- Storefront doors
- Hollow metal and solid core doors
- Overhead/rolling doors
- Gates and gate operators
- Dock equipment
- Experience scoping service work and preparing estimates or repair quotes
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent jobs in a fast-paced service environment
- Experience coordinating small field crews (1–2 technicians) preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across most or all listed commercial door and gate systems
- Prior supervisory or field leadership experience
- Background in high-volume service industries (commercial facilities, HVAC, industrial service, or similar)
- Strong estimating experience with end-to-end job ownership
- Experience sourcing parts and managing vendor relationships independently
- Familiarity with ADA compliance, fire-rated assemblies, and safety standards
- Experience with companies such as R&S Doors, Vortex, Industrial Door Company, or similar
Role Requirements & Fit
- Strong service/repair mindset (not focused on new installation-only roles)
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve issues in the field or by phone
- Comfortable managing 10–20 active service jobs simultaneously
- Stable work history preferred (generally 2–3+ years in key roles is ideal)
- Candidates with strictly residential or new-construction-only experience are not a fit
