Welding Engineer / Materials & Fabrication Specialist – New Haven, CT | $80K–$130K DOE | Onsite
Join our growing manufacturing team as a Welding Engineer / Materials Specialist! Lead welding procedure development, stainless steel fabrication, and weldment design for critical assemblies in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role blends engineering expertise, fabrication skills, and quality leadership to drive production excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, qualify, and implement welding procedures (WPS/PQR) for complex alloys and critical joints.
- Design and fabricate welding fixtures and assemblies using SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD 2D.
- Perform hands-on stainless steel and metal welding to meet customer specifications.
- Lead visual weld inspections in compliance with Level II Visual Weld Inspector standards and ISO 9000.
- Collaborate with suppliers for welding consumables and outsourced weldments.
- Support continuous improvement of welding processes, reducing rework and improving quality.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Materials Engineering or Welding Engineering, OR 10+ years welding-specific experience.
- Level II Visual Weld Inspector certification.
- 2–4 years of hands-on welding experience, including stainless steel.
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D modeling and AutoCAD 2D for weldments and fixtures.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000-quality systems and production standards.
Additional Information:
- Full-time, onsite in New Haven, CT | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Minimal travel; startup-friendly, independent work environment.
- Experience in OEM fabrication, pump/ fluid-handling, corrosion-resistant equipment, or small/medium manufacturing is a plus.
