Main Activities of the Department / Project Scope

As a Legal Counsel at the forefront of legal developments, you will easily engage with various legal areas and topics. Working in a motivated team, you will tackle exciting legal challenges related to cashless payment systems. With your competent advice, you will actively contribute to seizing business opportunities and play a tangible role in securing the long-term success of the company and protecting its assets.

Main Responsibilities

The Legal Counsel will handle legal issues, particularly in the following areas:

  • Contract Law

  • Consumer Credit Law

  • Advertising and Competition Law

  • Employment Law

  • Financial Market Law (e.g., banking, anti-money laundering, insurance)

  • Criminal Law

  • Data Protection Law

  • Commercial and Corporate Law

  • Debt Enforcement and Bankruptcy Law

  • Intellectual Property Law

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the General Counsel and peers with legal oversight of projects, and increasingly managing such projects independently if suitable.

  • Drafting contracts under instruction and providing legal support (initially with guidance).

  • Clarifying legal issues.

  • Preparing submissions to authorities and courts.

  • Creating templates and contract models when needed.

Time Allocation

60%: Drafting contracts, memos, legal assessments, and reviewing marketing materials (initially under instruction).

40%: Legal support of projects including minor reviews and opinions (possibly including training); drafting legal submissions under guidance where appropriate.

Other Key Tasks

  • Managing the balance between legal requirements and departmental expectations.

  • Efficient and practical application of legal expertise in company-related matters.

  • Ideally, a solid understanding of legal areas relevant to the credit card and consumer credit sectors.

Special Requirements for the Candidate (Education, Experience, Software Skills)

  • Independent and proactive team player with strong negotiation and planning skills. Importance: High

  • Strong interest in contract, consumer, competition, and advertising law; curiosity for digital transformation; excellent communication skills. Importance: High

  • Several years of experience as in-house legal counsel in finance or commercial law firm; Swiss Master of Law and Swiss bar exam. Importance: High

  • Fluent in German (native level); excellent English (written and spoken). Importance: High
