Position Summary:
Blue Stone Management is seeking dynamic and service-oriented Project Managers to support airport modernization, terminal refresh, and infrastructure improvements for major aviation clients. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of passenger experience and operational excellence within active airport environments. We're hiring for multiple levels, from emerging project leads to senior PMs, with all candidates expected to demonstrate a strong aptitude for working in complex, multi-stakeholder settings, where safety, continuity of operations, and customer experience are critical.

Ideal candidates will possess experience in managing aviation-related design and construction efforts, including terminal renovations, guest service upgrades, airside/landside coordination, and compliance with aviation authority requirements (e.g., FAA, TSA, ADA). Candidates must be comfortable operating in live environments with minimal disruption to airport operations and capable of leading fast-track, high-visibility projects from conception through closeout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison and owner's representative for terminal, airfield, or support facility capital improvement projects at commercial airports.
  • Manage scope, schedule, budget, and operational interface for construction projects in live airport environments, ensuring work is safely executed without disrupting daily airport operations.
  • Lead or support project phases from planning and RFP development to design review, permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with multiple airport stakeholders, including airport operations, security, concessions, tenant airlines, maintenance teams, and executive leadership.
  • Oversee project documentation and compliance with FAA, CEQA/NEPA, ADA, and airport authority standards.
  • Evaluate contractor performance and oversee field coordination for submittals, RFIs, pay apps, change orders, and milestone progress tracking.
  • Support or lead design team coordination, stakeholder engagement, mockup approvals, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Provide direction on quality assurance, risk management, and environmental health and safety protocols.
  • Identify and proactively address design, constructability, and phasing challenges in occupied terminals or critical support areas.
  • Prepare and present project updates, KPIs, and risk reports to senior management, governing boards, or public agency representatives.


Basic Qualifications (All Levels):

  • Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Aviation, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years (Junior PM), 5 years (Mid-level PM), or 10+ years (Senior PM) of project management experience in construction or capital programs, with at least some experience in operational facilities.
  • Understanding of design/construction delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, and Design-Build.
  • Familiarity with aviation agency requirements, public bidding, and permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam; experience with PMIS platforms (Unifier, eBuilder, Prolog, or similar).
  • Strong interpersonal skills withthe  ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in complex environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working on airport modernization or terminal improvement projects (e.g., refresh of finishes, MEP systems upgrades, signage/wayfinding, concessions, or digital interface improvements).
  • Knowledge of airport stakeholder engagement, phasing, and safety management within TSA-secured or airside zones.
  • Experience navigating agency approval processes with FAA, NEPA, CEQA, local airport authorities, or city departments.

Certifications such as PMP, CCM, PE, AAAE, or LEED are strongly preferred.

Additional Requirements:

Physical:
Must be able to walk construction sites, navigate secure airport environments, and participate in site inspections.

Cognitive:
Demonstrated decision-making, strategic planning, and communication skills to manage complex projects and schedules.

Logistics:
Full-time availability required. Ability to work occasional off-hours, nights, or weekends as needed to align with airport operational windows.
