HEAD: ACTUARIAL ASSUMPTIONS & MODEL DEVELOPMENT VALIDATION
A leading specialist insurer and alternative risk financing provider is seeking an experienced actuarial professional to head up Assumptions and Model Development Validation within a dynamic and highly regulated environment.
This organisation is a market leader in structured insurance solutions, cell captive facilities, and innovative risk transfer mechanisms. The business partners with corporates to design and manage bespoke insurance products across life and non-life classes.
Role Purpose
To provide independent validation oversight of actuarial assumptions, methodologies, and model development processes across the business. The role ensures robustness, regulatory compliance, and alignment with best practice actuarial standards.
Key Responsibilities

Lead independent validation of actuarial models and methodologies

Review and challenge actuarial assumptions across life and/or non-life portfolios

Provide governance oversight in line with SAM and regulatory requirements

Assess model risk frameworks and validation controls

Engage with internal stakeholders including Finance, Risk, and Product teams

Present validation findings to Exco and Board-level committees
-
Drive continuous improvement in model governance and documentation standards
Minimum Requirements
-
Qualified Actuary (FASSA or equivalent)

8–12+ years actuarial experience

Strong exposure to model development and/or model validation
-
Experience within insurance (life or non-life)
-
Deep understanding of SAM, regulatory reporting, and governance frameworks

Strong stakeholder engagement and leadership capability
