Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer with 4–5 years of practical experience to support the design, implementation, and optimisation of electrical systems and infrastructure. This role is ideal for a technically strong professional who enjoys a mix of hands-on engineering and project involvement.
The successful candidate will contribute to electrical design, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design
- Assist in the design and development of electrical systems and components
- Review and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
- Support equipment selection and specification
- Participate in new installations, upgrades, and commissioning
- Operations & Maintenance
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and implement corrective actions
- Support preventative and predictive maintenance programmes
- Optimise system reliability and uptime
- Work closely with maintenance and production teams
Projects
- Contribute to electrical engineering projects from planning to execution
- Support project timelines, budgets, and documentation
- Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
- Assist in commissioning and handover of projects
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to electrical standards and regulations
- Maintain compliance with health and safety policies
- Support audits and risk assessments
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- Professional registration (ECSA or working towards) is advantageous
- Experience
- 4–5 years relevant experience in an industrial or project environment
- Exposure to electrical systems design, maintenance, or commissioning
- Experience in sectors such as manufacturing, mining, energy, or FMCG preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and control panels
- Experience with PLCs, drives, and automation (advantageous)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Familiarity with electrical codes and standards
- Proficiency in engineering tools/software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN)
