About the job Risk Officer
Minimum Requirements:
- SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent occupational SHE training.
- National Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety Management
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
- National Senior Certificate / Matric
- First Aid level 2 Basic Certificate
- Fire Prevention Certificate
- Environmental & Quality qualification an advantage
- Computer literacy, with MS Office (excel intermediate to advanced)
- Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations
- Experience with AEL and MHI Ideal
- Experience of implementing Health and Safety Systems in a highly technical, complex industrial environment is essential
- Exposure to and understanding of implementation of ISO 45001 / 14001 and ISO 9001
- Well experienced in Company standards and programs requirements in order to pass on knowledge and requirements to others.
- Must have experience in the management of contractors in line with the OHSA and Construction Regulations
- Experience working in an environment with Hazardous Chemicals would be ideal
Responsibilities:
- Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act guidelines and provides advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations whilst on the constant lookout for violations on site.
- The Risk/Safety Officer is a responsible individual who ensures compliance and focuses on prevention.
- To establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.
