About the job Risk Officer

Minimum Requirements:

  • SAMTRAC Certificate or equivalent occupational SHE training.
  • National Diploma or equivalent in Health & Safety Management
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant experience
  • National Senior Certificate / Matric
  • First Aid level 2 Basic Certificate
  • Fire Prevention Certificate
  • Environmental & Quality qualification an advantage
  • Computer literacy, with MS Office (excel intermediate to advanced)
  • Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and the regulations
  • Experience with AEL and MHI Ideal
  • Experience of implementing Health and Safety Systems in a highly technical, complex industrial environment is essential
  • Exposure to and understanding of implementation of ISO 45001 / 14001 and ISO 9001
  • Well experienced in Company standards and programs requirements in order to pass on knowledge and requirements to others.
  • Must have experience in the management of contractors in line with the OHSA and Construction Regulations
  • Experience working in an environment with Hazardous Chemicals would be ideal

Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act guidelines and provides advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations whilst on the constant lookout for violations on site. 
  • The Risk/Safety Officer is a responsible individual who ensures compliance and focuses on prevention. 
  • To establish a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to health and safety.
