Job Title: Financial Accountant

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a number of the accounting and financial reporting functions including:

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports (P&L, Balance sheet and Capital);
  • Preparation and analysis monthly management accounts;
  • Preparation of monthly journals and Trial balances for all legal entities;
  • Preparation of monthly risk income statements;
  • Preparation and analysis of month end Economic Capital calculation;
  • Preparation of monthly, interim and year-end FAS packs;
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly regulatory returns;
  • Preparation of monthly tax computations for all legal entities.
  • Preparation of annual tax returns for all legal entities.
  • Preparation of semi-annual provisional tax returns for all legal entities.
  • Preparation of responses to adhoc SARS queries;
  • Consolidation of various legal entities, including equity accounting underlying investments;
  • Review of annual financial statements by Departmentss Statutory, Tax and Compliance,
  • Review of Department quarterly faspacks, forecasts and budgets;
  • Annual preparation of budgets and assistance with budget presentations;
  • Monthly update of forecasts;
  • Liaise with internal/external auditors during the annual audits;
  • Liaise with Company Central Finance and Group Financial teams on an ongoing basis;
  • Liaise with the Group on a monthly basis;
  • Liaise with front office on ad hoc matters relating to underlying investments;
  • Liaise with portfolio companies finance teams on an adhoc basis;
  • Assist with adhoc projects;
  • Assist with adhoc requests emanating from the Group;
  • Attend ad hoc meetings e.g. HFM, business continuity, etc.

Minimum Requirements:

  • The successful candidate needs to have completed Articles + CA (SA) qualification.
  • S/he must have exposure and experience in equity accounting, tax, consolidations and completion of regulatory returns.
  • Experience in a banking environment would be an advantage.
