Senior IT Operations Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Design, administer, and maintain the companys IT infrastructure.

  • Create and implement policies, procedures, and standards for IT operations and services.

  • Keep up to date with rapid technological changes.

  • Support the administration of a wide area and local network.

  • Provide technical 2nd and 3rd level support to end users.

  • Implement, maintain, and administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes.

  • Document and report on systems, including design, SOP, root causes of faults, and other IT reports as required by management from time to time.

  • Mentor colleagues and peers both in the IT space.

  • Serve as the standby and after-hours escalation point for support issues.

  • Comply with financial services legislation.

Experience in the following technologies and concepts:

  • HP Synergy / Server Blade Infrastructure.

  • Storage Technologies Preferably HPE and Fibre Channel.

  • Hyper-V and Hyper-V Clusters.

  • Failover Clusters for MS SQL Server.

  • LAN/WAN/VPN Technology.

  • Microsoft AD / Azure AD / DNS.

  • Remote Desktop Services.

  • Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online.

  • DNS and Certificate Management.

  • IP Telephony.

  • VEEAM Backup and Recovery.

  • Operating Systems Microsoft and Linux.

  • In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and internetworking with heterogeneous technologies.

  • Perimeter Security.

  • Progression & capacity planning.

  • Technical documentation.

Skillset:

  • Grade 12, plus relevant diploma/degree.

  • Office 365 administration.

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting an IT Technical environment.

  • Application Support experience (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, System Administration).

  • Broad knowledge of software and hardware pertaining to servers, networks, PCs, and peripherals.

  • Detailed knowledge of activities related to Microsoft System Support.

  • Windows and Linux Operating System Administration.

  • Networking fundamentals and Administration.

  • Documentation/Technical Authoring.

  • Knowledge of Systems Architecture.

  • ITIL - Advantageous.

  • Azure technologies - Advantageous.

  • Microsoft SQL Databases Administration - Advantageous.
