Rate of Pay: £21.14 - £28.28 per hour

Summary:

The London Borough of Islington is seeking a dedicated Carpenter/Multitrade to join the Direct Works team. This role is essential to providing high-quality carpentry and maintenance services across responsive, planned, and empty home repairs. As part of the "Be Islington" initiative, you will work to create a more equal borough by delivering excellent service to residents and acting as an ambassador for the Council. The position requires a proactive professional who can work flexibly in tenanted and void properties while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Execute carpentry and relevant trade duties for Responsive, Planned, Empty Homes, and Capital Repairs to an excellent standard.
• Organize your daily workload to maximize productivity, meet repair appointments, and hit targets.
• Adhere to all Health and Safety legislation, including safe systems of work for asbestos awareness and working at heights.
• Manage and secure company property, including vehicle stock, tools, and plant equipment, ensuring the replenishment of imprest stock.
  
  
• Use a PDA or electronic device to maintain accurate records of materials, order follow-on works, and update supervisors on project delays.
  
• Take responsibility for promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults encountered during work

Qualifications:

• Recognized City & Guilds Apprentice trained in Carpentry with an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience.
  
• A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in multi-skills training, or a demonstrated willingness to undergo training once employed

Essentials:

• Proven experience delivering high-quality carpentry in domestic properties using various portable power tools.
• Must possess a clean, valid driving license to operate company vehicles.
