Lead Technician

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside with Southern Housing to assist with the appointment of a Lead Technician, on a 3-month contract, likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £20.38 - £26.06 per hour

Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Technician to manage a team of multi-trade operatives within the Building Services & Maintenance team. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day delivery of services, including managing operatives schedules, overseeing performance, and maintaining high standards of health, safety, and customer satisfaction. The role combines operational management with hands-on technical support, making it an essential link between residents, operatives, and the wider business.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support a team of multi-trade operatives, ensuring attendance, productivity, and compliance with company standards.
  • Oversee operatives diaries to ensure efficient scheduling of works and maximise productivity.
  • Record and manage sickness, annual leave, and assist with HR-related issues, including participating in stage meetings.
  • Provide hands-on technical support where required, drawing on a strong multi-trade background.
  • Liaise with residents, operatives, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain excellent customer service.

Requirements:

  • Proven background in multi-trade building services and/or maintenance.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing teams.
  • Good IT and administrative skills, including use of scheduling and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulationsin construction/maintenance environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with residents, operatives, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.

Experiences:
  • Demonstrable experience in multi-trade works within building services and maintenance.
  • Experience in supervising or leading teams, including handling HR-related issues (absence management, performance, etc.).
  • Experience in carrying out inspections (complaints, H&S, post-works quality checks).
  • Customer-facing experience, ideally within housing or repairs services.
