Lettings Officer
Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Greenwich to assist with the appointment of a Lettings Officer, on a 6-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £16.42 - £20.56 per hour
Summary:
The Lettings Officer will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day operations of the Choice Based Lettings System, nominations to Housing Associations, Mutual Exchanges, and Special Schemes. The postholder will ensure that housing offers are administered fairly, sensitively, and in line with statutory requirements and council policies.
They will act as the first point of contact for lettings-related enquiries, provide housing advice to applicants, and prepare reports for management, case review panels, and members. The postholder will also deputise for the Senior Lettings Officer when required and supervise Lettings Assistants.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the sensitive letting and pre-letting of Council and Housing Association properties.
- Undertake nominations to Housing Associations and Special Schemes in line with agreed procedures.
- Deputise for the Senior Lettings Officer in their absence, including supervising Lettings Assistants.
- Prepare reports, undertake special projects, and carry out investigations as required.
- Respond to correspondence, including Members casework, and enquiries from other services, agencies, and senior managers.
Requirements:
- Demonstrable experience in lettings, allocations, or housing services.
- Experience responding to Members enquiries, preferably within a Local Authority setting.
- Strong understanding of housing legislation, policies, and nomination procedures.
- Proficiency in using IT systems for case management and applicant verification.
- Ability to manage lettings processes sensitively and efficiently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and correspondence handling.
- Experience working with Housing Associations, Local Authorities, and other housing-related agencies.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple cases effectively.
