Social Work Assistant

 Job Description:

We are working closely alongside with a local authority in Cardiff to assist with the appointment of a Social Work Assistant on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £16.12 - £21.10 per hour

Summary:

The Social Work Assistant is a key member of the Children's Services Locality teams. Working within an established and supportive environment, the post holder assists the Principal Social Worker (PSW) and Team Manager in the delivery of essential services to the community. This role involves managing a small caseload where necessary and collaborating closely with social workers and duty workers to ensure high-quality care and support for children and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing and monitoring appropriate services in line with individual care plans for a small allocated caseload.
  • Providing practical help and advice to service users, children, and their families.
  • Completing annual care plan reviews and/or reassessments as required.
  • Ensuring all work is undertaken in line with Council Policies, Procedures, and Health and Safety legislation.
  • Supporting the principles of equality of opportunity as stated in the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent (Essential).
  • NVQ/GNVQ Level 3 or 4 in Social Care (Desirable).
  • Youth Work, Speech and Language, or Occupational Therapy.
  • Counselling or experience delivering CBT/DBT skills.

Essentials:

  • Experience working with vulnerable individuals through direct contact in a professional environment.
  • A deep understanding of the needs of disabled people and/or children and their carers.
  • A full, valid driving licence and sole access to a vehicle during working hours are required.

  • You should have right to work in U.K
  • This role requires an Enhanced DBS
